minefield e.p. is the second real soon release by dublin-based italian producer leopoldo rosa (aka lerosa). on this 4-track ep leo brings us more of his warm, loose-limbed, us-influenced, abstract house experiments and, on the snappy title track minefield, refers back to his earlier electro sound. whatever the style, leo has a distinctive touch and a refreshingly simple, unpretentious production style - letting the machines do their business with the minimum of fuss. leo has started to build a strong reputation over the past two years with a series of excellent releases on real soon, enclave recordings, a touch of class, uzuri and millions of moments and has recently entered the live arena - look out for him in a club near you

part 1 of the new double-release from tiefschwarz aims at the heart of house music: soul. “on&on” is a first-class arranged club track. starting off with a wonderful mellow theme, that is adumbrated by the bass line in an one-and-a-half minute long exposition. the track ups the tempo with an additional hi-hat resolving into a shuffle beat. in double time, we move on towards the first break. here an edgy, minor key-chord sequence is introduced, making it obvious for everyone, that this track is gonna take off. eventually the keys function as a counterpoint to the classic bass line. a four-to-the-floor “on&on” vocal sample takes over after the break, adding another percussive aspect. as the track goes on a mulitiplicity of side elements sets in - no room for tediousness! in the end the “on&on” vocals resolve into “it’s so simple… . who knows, but this could be a broad hint to all the tech-house academics out there. no matter what, this grande finale raises a smile from every last sweaty soul on the dancefloor. with “best inn” on the b-side tiefschwarz create a dance classic, dressed in 2009 fashion. reminiscent of long gone nu-groove times, a traditional house beat - including a tiny off-beat tinker bell - blasts out of the speakers. a slured synth-organ provides the track with that certain edgyness. here, the brothers keep it laid-back yet exciting at the same time. this piece goes on and on and on - and you yourself run alongside, not wanting to pause. but watch out! at the latest in the second break, tiefschwarz put nostalgia to the test via some shockingly muffled metal drums. one of these moments, where you wish yourself back into the middle of an eight-hour deep-house set in 1992. the train departs. one thrillingly beautiful landscape after another runs by, until the warm sun strokes of the south suddenly rouse you out of slumber. arrived

there is no doubt that leipzig is a pulsating place in terms of electronic music. however, the potential of the city seems to be experiencing a new surge - not least due to up-and-coming producers like sven tasnadi and stefan schultz aka juno6. both belong to the generation of musicians who initially released their tracks for free on net-labels but have since have made the leap to vinyl. while sven tasnadi has already released great eps on liebe*detail, smallville records and of course on cargo edition, juno6 just recently made his debut with >salamis< in spring 2008 on broque. now they have joined forces with their first collaboration for cargo edition. both tracks on the ep are characterised by elaborate rhythms, a special deepness and intricately arranged sounds. >aramis< tells apparently different stories which merge seamlessly during its 14 minutes. the track also explores the hypnotic moments on the dancefloor in a very subtle and complex manner - reduced but full of vibrancy at the same time. >genau so< on the b-side takes a similar line, but adds a spark of funk, which combines to form its distinctive rhythm. sven tasnadi & juno6 have created two modern house tracks which are full of character.

back a yard is the 4th release on the extremely succesful oproof label. drunk on rum mr. g produces one killer after another. with his trademark analog sounds and basslines to die for he understands perfectly well what it takes to make the people dance all night. boris ross is luxaflex headman and he drops a wicked remix! with great remixes and releases on luxaflex and stolen moments this guy is building a good reputation. his style is just funky as hell. nuff said, just buy on sight and feel it!!

over the last 4 years mouseville has seen eric prydz (under his cirez d moniker) deliver some truly landmark moments in music with tracks such as knockout and control freak really setting the bench mark for others to follow. here we have an equally devastating track only this time produced by paulo mojo and jim rivers - two producers whos starts have been very much on the rise over the last couple of years with both of them having produced killer tracks for labelks such as oosh, misfit and saw. the track is an absolute killer - a driving groover with its catchy vocal refrains, sharp drums and funky bassline. on the flip the eric prydz remix turns the original on its head with deep chords and pads creating a very moody yet powerful reinterpretation. big support from eric prydz, sebastian leger, john digweed, paulo mojo and steve angello

itamar sagi from the be as one label really made a name for himself with his black gold track that was released earlier this year. inspired by the warmer and more emotional side of detroit techno he very much captured something real and true in that song which certaintly paid off in the end. here he has done something a bit different. not less good though. actually better. this is a record for those moments when you need to increase the pace but still wants to keep the soul. perfect!
